IntroductionThis webinar discusses recent public space trends in the Greater Bay Area emerging in the context of the region’s rapid urban development. It addresses issues of policies, social inclusion, participation, and appropriation in the production of everyday urbanism. It identifies opportunities for reconfiguring design-driven urban practice beyond traditional interventions manifested by the design of physical objects and public amenities to the design of new social protocols, processes, infrastructures, and capabilities. The webinar also shares insights gained in public space studies during the pandemic, co-developed by the two speakers.
