Epidemiological landscape of multiple myeloma

Multiple myeloma is one of the major types of haematological malignancy worldwide. This cancer often affects several areas of the bone and marrow. The study investigated the associated common lifestyle and metabolic factors, and temporal trend of multiple myeloma in various population subgroups using the most up-to-date data on a global scale. The result showed a wide variation in the burden of multiple myeloma, with higher incidence and mortality observed in men and countries with higher human development index. Moreover, higher incidence and mortality were associated with a higher prevalence of physical inactivity, overweight, obesity, and diabetes.
