Biography

Randy Lai is the CEO of McDonald’s Hong Kong. With a vision to innovate for growth and build a better McDonald’s, Randy leads over 245 restaurants and 15,000 employees, serving more than one million customers every day. Not only is Randy the first McDonald’s CEO nurtured locally, she was also the first female Managing Director of McDonald’s Singapore in 2010 prior to her current capacity.

Under Randy’s strategic leadership, McDonald’s Hong Kong prides itself as one of the McDonald’s global markets with the highest guest count per restaurant and highest digital guest count per restaurant per day.

Randy’s accomplishments in business innovations and talent management are reflected in an array of prestigious accolades and recognitions, such as the Best People-focused CEO award by CTGoodjobs in 2020, CEO Marketer of the Year award by the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing in 2019 and Professional of the Year by the AmCham Hong Kong Women of Influence Awards in 2017. In 2012, she received the Young Alumni Award from Western University.

With over two decades’ experience of managing a world-renowned brand, Randy is dedicated to bettering the management industry. She was honoured as Professor of Practice in 2019 and appointed as a Council Member in 2016 by the Hong Kong Management Association. Since 2018, she has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Retail Management Association.

Randy is passionate towards community engagement and shared value creation. Since 2012, she has also served as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. As a Board Member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities since 2011, Randy is committed to helping sick children and their families.

Randy holds an Executive MBA Degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, majoring in Economics from Western University, Canada.
