39 Country Initiative
Abstract
In 2010, Professor Paul Beamish established “The 39 Country Initiative”. It allows universities in the world’s 39 poorest countries to use Ivey cases at no cost, and facilitates container load shipments of educational material to university libraries there (see http://www.ivey.uwo.ca/engaging/39-country-initiative/). Over 2,000 faculty members in the eligible countries are now using the cases. In addition over 20 collection nodes for books have been established and 5 container shipments have been made. But much more is needed . He will review the progress to date of the 39 Country Initiative, and will discuss possible ways for business schools in advanced economies to engage more actively in the Initiative.
