Re: |
Course Fulfillment, Major GPA, Major Upper GPA and Degree Conferment Dates |
Dear Graduating Student, |
As you are expected to graduate in 2nd term 2021-22, kindly note the following, in particular point 4, and take actions as required. |
1. Check Fulfillment of Course Requirements |
Please select “Academic Progress” under CUSIS to run the “Advisement Report” and “In-progress Report” to check if you still have any outstanding requirement(s) for graduation under “My Academic Requirements” and “Planner”, respectively. If you still have outstanding University/ Major Programme requirement(s) at the moment, you will NOT be able to graduate in 2nd term 2021-22. You may still apply for change of expected graduation term using the application form on RES homepage by 31 May 2022. Please also check under “My Academics” whether related academic records i.e. 2nd Major, Minor(s), Concentration(s)/ Stream of study of the Major Programme registered are correct. You MUST contact RES by 31 May 2022 if there is any discrepancy. For those who cannot fulfill the course requirements for the declared Minor Programme(s), they will receive notification via email from RES around late June 2022 for cancellation of their unfulfilled Minor Programme(s). |
2. Check Major GPA and Major Upper GPA |
The grades for 2nd term 2021-22 will be released on 1 June 2022. Please check your Major GPA and Major Upper GPA in the “Advisement Report” under CUSIS after the release of grades. You MUST check carefully the courses that are included in the calculation of Major GPA/ Major Upper GPA, especially for those students who have applied for course substitution/ equivalence. As Major GPA is one of criteria for determination of honours classification, you MUST report to RES by 24 June 2022 at the latest if you find any error or have queries about the GPA shown under your “Advisement Report” in CUSIS. Late report will NOT be accepted. Please note that you have to re-run the “Advisement Report” and check your updated Major GPA/ Major Upper GPA again if there is a change in grade(s) in your Major course(s). |
3. Grade Appeal/ Pending Requirements for Graduation |
As the degrees will be conferred shortly after the completion of the graduation assessment, students are reminded to plan their academic studies carefully and to fulfill all graduation requirements as early as possible. Students must also observe the grade appeal period. Any grade appeal made after the specified grade appeal period will NOT be entertained. Students should proactively follow up with the course teachers concerned for any pending grades after the grade release date. For students with pending grades/documents/records at the time of graduation assessment (e.g. outstanding course grades, official transcripts for course and unit exemption for outgoing exchange students, unresolved disciplinary action), their degree conferment will be postponed to the next degree conferment date. |
4. Release of Degree Honours Classification Results and Degree Conferment Dates |
Please note the following: |
(i) |
For students without any pending graduation requirements/records, their degree honours classification result will be released on RES homepage on 21 July 2022 and will have their degree conferred on 31 July 2022 (please refer to the email dated 23 February 2022 on Degree Conferment Dates in a Calendar Year). The degree certificate issuance date will also be 31 July 2022. Please refer to point (iii) below if students need to postpone the degree conferment date / degree certificate issuance date. |
(ii) |
For students who have taken or will take courses in the Summer Session and/or with pending grades/documents/records at the time of graduation assessment of 2nd term 2021-22, their degree honours classification result will be released around mid-August 2022 or at a later date (depending on the fulfilment of conditions for graduation). Their degree conferment date will be on 15 October 2022. |
(iii) |
As mentioned in the e-mail sent on 25 February 2022 to all graduating students in 2021-22, students may opt for a later degree conferment date if the present one does not fit their original planning for further studies or employment needs. For students who would like to opt for a later date for their degree conferment/degree certificate issuance date due to special reasons, they MUST complete and submit this Online Form (https://cloud.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/webform/view.php?id=13649140) on or before 7 June 2022 (5:00p.m., HK Time) to let the University know about their final option. Please observe all conditions stated in the Online Form and the decision made and submitted on postponement of degree conferment date/degree certificate issuance date will be IRREVOCABLE. |
(iv) |
The degree certificates will be available for collection around October/November 2022. Graduates should refer to notices posted on RES homepage in September/October 2022 for collection of the degree certificates or other related information. |
