Title of Thesis:

The role of microRNA in glioblastoma cancer stem cell: Insight from zebrafish gene knockout model.

Outline of the Thesis:
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is an aggressive and uncurable malignant primary brain tumor with a 50% survival rate within one year after diagnosis. Cancer stem cell has been identified to play a key role in the radioresistance, chemoresistance and re-occurrence of GBM. There has been an increasing focus on the role of microRNAs in GBM. Zebrafish has become one of the favourite model organisms for studying developmental biology, neurosciences and regeneration. In this study, we would like to explore the effect of microRNAs on glioblastoma cancer stem cell using zebrafish as a model using transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs) for targeted endogenous gene disruption.
