Team Effectiveness Workshop at Zhuhai

17 November 2013

A Team Effectiveness Workshop was conducted from 16-17 November, 2013 for GBS and IBCE students at Zhuhai. The activity is to help participants develop management soft skills and inspire them to transfer the relevant knowledge and attitude to the workplace.

The workshop took an experiential development approach in fostering team spirit, leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. With the many team-building activities, participants were given three attempts for each task so that they could consistently revise their gaming strategies and perfect their performance. The reflection and sharing sessions after each activity served as the catalyzer for teams to know the strengths, weaknesses and blind spots of their own and other teams.

The kayaking and rowing activities were the highlights of the trip. Not only did they bring participants out of their comfort zone, but the tasks also strengthened the bonding among GBS and IBCE students outside of classroom. Water sports might not be the strength of the participants, but the activity proved the power of having a “can-do” attitude despite the anxiety associated with unfamiliarity. What students took away from the workshop is the sense of achievement for completing all tasks and the satisfaction of pushing their own limits.
