7 November 2013
Job hunting, no matter for graduate job or internship, has always been important for business students. A workshop on “Setting the Foundation for Career Success” was held on November 7, 2013 for GBS & IBCE students. Mr Kelvin Lau, Manager from Michael Page International, gave a lot of useful advice to the 60 participants about their future career. It was pointed out that IT, retail and logistic sectors were traditionally being overlooked by business students yet worth some serious consideration in 2014. On the other hand, personal branding and effective networking are some of the keys to secure a desirable job. Below is the reflection from Beatrice Wan, final year student of IBCE program:
This workshop is very meaningful, especially to me as a final year student. When we start applying for graduate positions, we are always confused about what we should do and how we should start. Kelvin provided much valuable tips on CV writing and interviews. What inspired me the most is to follow my interest. Some of us would have dreamed of getting whatever position with the highest possible salary. However, if we want to work happily and, more importantly, keep highly motivated, interest is the prime factor we should take into consideration.
