As a leading academic ophthalmology department in the region, our faculty members are frequently invited to serve in different capacities among major international academic congresses. This include the World Ophthalmology Congress, the World Glaucoma Congress, the Annual Meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress, the Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society Congress, the Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Congress, the Asia Pacific Tele-Ophthalmology Society Symposium, the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting and the Congress of Chinese Ophthalmological Society.
Besides, to develop Hong Kong as the regional hub and centre of excellence in ophthalmology and visual sciences, our Department had also organized various of significant academic congresses since its establishment. In 2017, the Inaugural Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society (APSPOS) Congress held in conjunction with the Inaugural Hong Kong Paediatric Ophthalmology Congress, was co-organized by the CUHK and the APSPOS, this event had successfully attracted nearly 400 delegates from over 43 countries, with more than 96 invited speakers from 16 countries presenting 92 lectures in 21 scientific sessions and workshops in 2 days.
