Our Assistant Professor, Dr Wai-kit Chu, has been awarded SH Ho Visiting Professorship Exchange Programme 2020 (Faculty of Medicine, CUHK and Stanford University). He will spend two months to visit Stanford University in San Francisco to deliver a series of lectures and build up collaborations with Department of Ophthalmology/ Byers Eye Institute.
SH Ho Visiting Professorship Exchange Programme is an exchange programme supported by a generous donation made by the S H Ho Foundation Limited to encourage research and scholarship exchange between The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Stanford University, USA.
In the coming exchange programme, Dr Chu will attach to various basic research and clinical research teams at Department of Ophthalmology/ Byers Eye Institute, to build up collaborations between CUHK and Stanford. He will study important proteins in intraocular pressure regulation. Various advanced technologies including optogenetics will be applied to characterize these glaucoma related proteins. In the future, these advanced technologies could also be applied to study other ophthalmic diseases.
This will be a precious experience for Dr Chu to further enhance his academic pursuits and career. Congratulations, Dr Chu.
