We have the pleasure to announce that Dr. Poemen Chan’s paper entitled “Ten-Year Clinical Outcomes of Acute Primary Angle Closure Randomized to Receive Early Phacoemulsification Versus Laser Peripheral Iridotomy” was selected for the paper of the month of the Journal of Glaucoma by the Associated Advisory Board of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) for the April episode of the year 2021.
The Journal of Glaucoma is the official publication of the WGA. Other faculty members and honorary members that contributed to his paper included Prof Clement Tham, Dr Fangyao Tang, Dr Thomas Lam, Dr Dexter Leung and Dr Nafees Baig. The study found that, after ten-years of an acute angle closure attack, patients who underwent early phacoemulsification used less medication and were less likely to have blindness compared with patients who underwent early phacoemulsification.
Dr Poemen Chan has made a video to further explain the findings.
