Dr. Poemen Chan has been appointed as a member of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) Associate Advisory Board (AAB). AAB members are chosen amongst the younger members of WGA who have been identified as high potential individuals who can make meaningful contributions to the WGA activities. Dr. Chan’s inclusion to AAB is a recognition of his work and contribution in the field.
The goal of the WGA is to promote glaucoma care, education, and research across the world. AAB is responsible for organizing some of their unique programs, such as Journal of Glaucoma mini-reviews and the Journal of Glaucoma “Paper of the Month” videos. They seed and provide effort and energy to the various other core committees such as program, consensus statement, technology, and education.
Dr. Poemen Chan hope that the new position would provide a decent opportunity to work with and get our region to be recognised by a larger international community, such as participation in impactful projects that improve patient care, education, and research worldwide.
