Urogyanecology team was established since 1984 at the Prince of Wales Hospital. Our unit provides a comprehensive women’s health care and offers top specialized urogynaecology service to women in Hong Kong. Our unit is recognised by both the Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of United Kingdom as an Urogynaecology Subspecialty Training Center.

Our unit has introduced to Hong Kong a number of new services_ and treatments including:

  • Tension free transvaginal tape (TVT) surgery in 1999
  • Outside-in transobturator tension free transvaginal tape (TOT) surgery in 2004
  • Inside-out transobturator tension free transvaginal tape surgery in 2005
  • Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy in 2005
  • Laparoscopic colposuspension in 2005
  • Vaginal mesh repair surgery in 2007
  • Robotic assisted laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy in 2007
  • Uterine preserving surgery: laparoscopic hysterocolposacropexy in 2012
  • Vaginal repair of vesico-vaginal fistula in 2013
  • Vaginal repair of recto-vaginal fistula in 2013

Our unit has also introduced comprehensive training to nurses to conduct nurse-lead continence counselling clinics, urodynamics clinics and vaginal pessary replacement clinics:

  • Training in performing urodynamics studies since 2009
  • Training in providing vaginal pessary replacement since 2010
