Break the Barrier of Mobile Learning with Native Support of QR Code Scanning on Smartphones
20 Oct 2017, Fri
Mobile learning is convenient for smartphone users - only if the resources can be accessed easily. With the native support of QR code scanning in the Camera app of the recently released iOS 11, iPhone users can now access resources behind QR codes without the need to install additional scanning apps.
It is not new to integrate a QR code scanner into a native camera app. Motorola has done this to their phones since 2015, while its competitors are following or finding other solutions like enabling QR code recognition in Google Assistant.
This function is not announced with the release of iOS 11, but iPhone users are realizing that their Camera app can now read QR codes. When you point your iPhone camera to a QR code, the link behind pops up as a notification.
The function is in place by default. You can turn it on or off in Settings > Camera > Scan QR Codes.
