Apart from assessments, text-mining is another tool that can uncover the learning outcomes of your students. The seminar “Tracking Students’ Conceptual Change through Bilingual Text-Mining of Student-Generated Text on Learning Management System” spoken by Prof. Kong Siu Cheung will bring you the experience from EdUHK regarding the matter.
Prof. Kong is the Director of Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology of EdUHK with extensive experience in education research. In the Knowledge & Education Exchange Platform (KEEP) project, his team has developed the Bilingual Text-Mining System that can identify keywords in Chinese and English appearing in students’ online discussions. This enables teachers to know the learning status of their students as well as to make teaching decisions with the support of data.
