Drag and Drop questions on KEEP Open edX create an interactive learning experience for learning categorized concepts. This problem type is enhanced in the recent platform upgrade with significant improvements, such as having a graphical user interface for setting it up, mobile compatibility and more feedback settings. Now let’s try the below sample question with us.
A Drag and Drop question require you to put things in the correct position. Now let us make our first trial in this question - putting “3” in the area “Multiple of 3”. A corresponding message set by the teacher is shown.
We can also try putting things wrongly, say putting “8” in the area “Multiple of 3”.
It’s obviously wrong! The alert pops up immediately.
Now we know that we need to do better. Let’s see what happens after we finish the whole question completely.
The teacher reminds us to check the corresponding chapter for revision. So good that we can know where to find the correct answers.
Oh, you are a teacher? Okay then let us learn how to create this kind of questions together. It’s not difficult at all.
After preparing the background image, you can set the different zones that can receive dragged objects. In this case, the zones should be “Multiple of 3” and “Multiple of 4”.
Then you can set the answers, i.e. the options and what category does each of the options belong. You can present the options as images, as well as assigning more than one correct category for each option.
So it’s done. Adding Drag and Drop problems is as easy as setting traditional multiple-choice or long answer questions, but learners are more involved though classifying objects one by one and making judgements multiple times based on the acquired knowledge.
For teachers who haven’t used KEEP Open edX before, you can contact us at support@keep.edu.hk so that we can arrange trials for you to try creating online courses with different types of interactive questions, not limited to Drag and Drop.
