随着对生物体认识的加深和新技术的发展，对常见复杂疾病，如阿尔茨海默症，哮喘以及HIV/AIDS或结核杆菌引起的感染疾病，可以进行分子和遗传方面的深入研究。目前，数以万计的人正遭受病苦，但对这些常见疾病的病理和生理机制的了解还十分有限。香港中文大学和昆明动物所的研究团队均在各自领域具有优秀的研究成果，双方将一同合作开发和利用重要和宝贵的生物资源进行常见疾病的研究。这些独一无二的资源将使我们的研究达到一个新的高度。同时，合作团队致力于把研究成果转化为临床医学的研究和应用。

    The latest advance in understanding and technology allow in-depth molecular and genetic study of common diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, asthma, common infectious diseases (e.g. HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis). Millions of people are suffering from these common diseases and yet our current understanding of the patho-physiology of these diseases is still limited. Team members from both CUHK and KIZ have excellent trackable records in their fields and will work together and KIZ would provide a very important and valuable resource for these studies. These bioresources are unique for this partnership and are essential to lead our research to reach a new horizon. The collaborating teams will translate the unique bioresources into clinical research and applications.
