‘Broken English’: Pidgin and Chinglish

English, Chinglish, Singlish? What’s a language and what’s a dialect? Can a language ever be “pure” or “broken”? If you think you can speak English, then prepare for a trip around the world and dive into varieties of English that will challenge your assumptions about what languages can be! From Nigeria to Ghana to Singapore to Hong Kong itself – this will be a fun evening of speaking, listening, understanding and misunderstanding, where we discover differences and parallels of various pidgin and creole languages to re-discover English.
