STEM Internship Scheme 2022 (Summer & Term 1 intake)

 
 
Launched by the Innovation and Technology Commission, the STEM Internship Scheme to encourage STEM students to gain innovation and technology (I&T)-related work experience during their studies and to foster their interest in pursuing a career in I&T after graduation, so as to enlarge the local I&T talent pool.
 
Eligibility of Students
 
The Scheme is open to undergraduates and postgraduates who are -
  1. local and non-local students 
  2. Local students are in accordance with the classification adopted by the Education Bureau for the purpose of admission to post-secondary programmes.
  3. Non‒local students are students not classified as local students and should be subject to the conditions of stay of the visa/entry permit issued to them by the Immigration Department. The number of non-local students receiving the allowance under the Scheme should not in principle exceed 20% of the total number of students in the university receiving the allowance in any academic year, unless prior approval by ITC has been given.
  4. enrolling in one of the full-time STEM programmes offered by the eligible Universities.
 
Internship Placements
  • Local or non-local full-time placements with duration of at least 4 consecutive weeks (28 days) and maximum in three months (90 days).
  • The placement must be sufficient I&T-related which actual work contains I&T.
 
Allowance and Funding
  • Allowance for each student intern will be HK$10,500 per month (30 days), capped at three months (i.e. 90 days) in one academic year.
  • The duration of an internship period is the number of calendar days in the contract period and the start/end days must be working days for the intern.
