The International Conference on Discovery and Innovation in Social Work and Fieldwork Education led by Prof. Lam Ching-man was successfully held on 19 June 2020. The conference served as a ground-up response to current challenges in social work education and promoted reflection on the values, pedagogies and development in social work education. Academics, scholars, teachers and practitioners from the globe met and exchanged experiences, ideas and views through inspiring dialogue.
The conference adopted a blended approach with a mix of on-site and online formats. Keynote speakers and non-local presenters delivered their presentations via an online platform whereas local presenters gave their presentations either at the conference venue or online. Prof. Zoë Breen Wood (Case Western University), Prof. Julie Drolet (University of Calgary), Prof. Hsiao Suh-chen (University of Southern California) and Prof. Yeh Ping-cheng (National Taiwan University) served as keynote speakers. Around 190 participants took part in the conference.
