New normal for global engagement
Prof. Alan Chan to lead a discussion with representatives from three other universities on the challenges and opportunities of online learning amid and beyond the pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought dramatic changes to the higher education landscape worldwide. In the face of these unprecedented challenges, the Office of Academic Links (OAL) has been supporting the University to actively exchange best practices with its partners to cope with the new normal in carrying out its core missions. While researcher and student mobility as well as international conferences and workshops have been put on hold due to travel restrictions, OAL has been seeking to maintain and strengthen CUHK’s global presence and engagements through online platforms.
A forthcoming webinar ‘Going Virtual: Lessons from Universities of the Asia Pacific on Online Teaching and Learning’ organised by the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) on 30 June 2020 will be moderated by Prof. Alan Chan, Provost of CUHK, where the University’s successful experience in online education will be shared with participants from network members and the education sector worldwide. The panel will discuss the challenges in moving universities to online platforms, whether distance learning will become the new norm, and how this may change university offerings for the long term, among many crucial issues in the area. Details of the webinar are here.
Besides, OAL has been publicising webinars hosted by the University to its partners worldwide with a view to cultivating research partnerships. Members of the University organising webinars who wish to reach out to a wider global audience may contact Ms. Yvonne Heung.
