McDonnell International Scholars Academy 2022-23

Calling for Applications!

(Deadline: 31 January 2022)

CUHK students are now invited to apply for the McDonnell International Scholars Academy at Washington University in St. Louis for the admission to one of a select group of full-time doctoral or master’s degree programmes in the 2022–23 academic year.

 

Terms of Award

  1. Full tuition for study in a doctoral or master’s degree programme at WUSTL.
  2. A 12-month living stipend for each year. This stipend is set at US$29,000 per academic year.
  3. A one-time travel allowance of up to US$1,500 for travel to St. Louis.
  4. An annual travel allowance of up to US$2,000 for a trip to the Scholar’s alma mater, i.e. CUHK.

Application to the McDonnell Academy is separate from, and in addition to, an application to a doctoral or master’s degree programme at WUSTL. Applicants are advised to observe the different application requirements and deadlines on the individual programme websites.

 

Interview & Application

A preliminary online interview for the fellowship programme with Prof. Ping Wang, Seigle Family Professor, Department of Economics, Arts and Sciences and Ambassador of the McDonnell Academy will be held on 21 December 2021 (Tuesday) at 8:00am HKT. Interested applicants are strongly recommended to sign up for the interview to get a head start for their applications. Please register online with a recent CV of no more than two pages by 16 December 2021 (Thursday).

 

Shortlisted applicants should submit the personal essay as required by the McDonnell Academy to the Office of Academic Links (c/o Ms. Alice Leong; hyleong@cuhk.edu.hk) by 12 January 2022 (Wednesday) for review. A full application with the essay, a letter of recommendation and a short video should be submitted online by 31 January 2022 (Monday). For the specific requirements of the application materials, please refer to the programme website. Applicants are advised to submit a copy of their applications to the Office of Academic Links (c/o Ms. Alice Leong; hyleong@cuhk.edu.hk) for record.
