The Department of Chemistry is looking for outstanding applicants for full-time appointment as Associate Professors/ Assistant Professors. Applicants should have a PhD degree in chemistry. All research areas, including analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and physical chemistry will be considered.
The appointees will (a) teach undergraduate and postgraduate chemistry courses including advanced courses in his/ her specialty; (b) conduct/ supervise undergraduate chemistry laboratory classes; (c) capitalize on the well-established infrastructure in the Department for independent research in his/ her field of expertise; (d) serve as research supervisor of postgraduate students enrolled in MPhil/ PhD programmes; and (e) participate in the administration of the Department.
The Department is prepared to provide the appointee with a suitable start-up fund and free quota of postgraduate students for his/her research. Opportunities are available in Hong Kong for annual application of research funding on a competitive basis.
The appointment rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Appointments will normally be made on contract basis up to 3 years, which subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
