Abstract
To facilitate and promote eLearning, the University has been supporting the Academic IT Steering Committee (AITSC) in the establishment of the Courseware Development Grant Scheme (CDGS) since 2000 to support teachers to work on CDGS projects. Due to the change of the IT governance structure of the University, the Subcommittee on Education Technologies of the IT Governance Committee (ITGC-SET) has taken up the works of AITSC. This project continues to sustain the CDGS.
The aim of CDGS is to encourage teachers to move forward from the basic use of eLearning towards developing more sophisticated or more complete eLearning environments for their students. CDGS is an annual competitive-based scheme administered by ITGC-SET, and a Task Force is established to oversee its implementation. The Courseware Development Grant (CDG) Task Force invites applications from members of the teaching staff for projects funded under this allocation each year. CDGS could help facilitate teachers to fully utilize the potential of eLearning and hence obtain better return on the investment that CUHK has made in developing the infrastructure and supporting service.
