CUHK Social Work 55th Anniversary cum CUHKSWKAA 20th Anniversary Banquet was successfully held at the Paramount International Banquet Hall on 3 May. Over 500 alumni, as well as the current and retired staff of the Department, enjoyed a warm and memorable night.
The Banquet was kicked off by speeches delivered by Prof. Rocky Tuan Sung Chi (CUHK Vice-Chancellor and President), Mr. Caspar Tsui Ying Wai (Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare), Prof. Steven Ngai Sek Yum (Chairperson of the Department of Social Work) and Mr. Chan Lit Fai (President of the CUHK Social Work Alumni Association) and a cake-cutting ceremony officiated by Prof. Tuan, Mr. Tsui, Prof. Ngai, Mr. Chan, Prof. Chiu Chi Yue, (Dean of Social Sciences), the Honourable Mr. Justice Patrick Chan Siu Oi (Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of the Department of Social Work), Prof. Lam Ching Man (Convenor of Working Group on the Anniversary Celebration Events) as well as Prof. Ho Kam Fai, Prof. Lam Mong Chow and Prof. Joyce Ma Lai Chong (former Department Chairpersons). Members of the Advisory Committee of the Department of Social Work, Ms. Dora Li (Donor Representative of HSBC Social Work Scholarship) and Mr. Paul Cheng Ming Fun (Donor of Madam Tan Jen Chiu Fund) also attended the banquet to share the joy of celebration. Highlights of the Banquet were certainly the chatting, laughter and photo-taking time among alumni and staff.
