Workshop on Distributed Storage Systems and Coding for BigData
Mass storage is critical in the era of BigData. Dispersing a huge data file in a large-scale distributed storage system is necessary in order to enhance reliability and availability. By introducing redundancy in the system, we can protect the data integrity from node failures. As node failures occur frequently in large-scale storage system, a considerable volume of Internet traffic is dedicated to the repair of failed storage nodes. Several classes of distributed storage codes, such as regenerating codes, locally repairable codes and so on, are introduced recently to reduce this overhead and disk input/output cost. Nevertheless, there still remains substantial research work for advancing distributed storage coding and systems in both theory and applications. This workshop will provide a platform for academic researcher and industrial engineers to discuss and share their recent works and practical experiences.
Second Workshop of Software Radio Implementation Forum (SRIF 2013) - An ACM Sigcomm Workshop
SRIF 2013 aims to bring together practitioners and researchers of software-defined radio in academia and industry to share the latest development, experiences, and insights, lively collaborations between academia and industry. In particular, the workshop aims to
(i) reach out to industrial participants to share their best practices; and
(ii) expose the state-of-the-art wireless research based on SDR to industrial participants in order to seek feedback.
The topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
* New hardware and software architectures for software radio platforms
* New programming model of SDR
* New PHY and MAC primitives and abstractions
* Prototypes of novel wireless systems on SDR
* State-of-the-art performance of wireless systems on SDR
* New applications of SDR (e.g., security, localization, RFID, biomedical applications, etc.)
* Theory versus practice (e.g., comparison of what is achievable in theory and what has been achieved in practice)
* New ideas that challenge the existing practices
* WLAN and LTE cellular networks with SDR
* Prototypes on platforms other than SDR
First Workshop on Entropy and Information Inequalities
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers who are active, and/or interested, in this area, to survey the progress that has been made, to describe some of the latest results, and to discuss avenues and approaches for future attacks. The workshop will include a small set of tutorial presentations, various research talks and ample time for interactive discussion and reflection.
2013 IEEE Taiwan/Hong Kong Joint Workshop on Information Theory and Communications
The 2013 IEEE Taiwan/Hong Kong Joint Workshop on Information Theory and Communications will be held at Lecture Theatre 1, Cheng Yu Tung Building, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China, on 19th (Saturday) and 20th (Sunday), January 2013. The workshop is to promote information exchange between the researchers in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the fields of information theory and communications. T
Short Course - Advanced Algebraic Coding Theory and Practice
This course attempts to provide a comprehensive treatment of the most celebrated algebraic codes, namely, Reed-Solomon and BCH codes. It is composed of three parts.
Network Science Workshop
Network science is emerging as a new scientific discipline that studies network behaviors and discovers common principles for network operation. Network science has gained increasing research interests partially due to the ubiquity of information networks. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together researchers in the field to share their perspectives on problems, tools, and/or results that they find important. We also intend to provide the attendees a forum for discussion, and to facilitate cooperation.
