What’s next for Wi-Fi ?
Users want seamlessly connected advanced services delivered on-demand wherever they may be, on any platform, over any available network. As user experience becomes richer, the radio transmission and underlying technologies and networks become more complex.
As one of the key radio transmission technologies, Wi-Fi is rapidly evolving to support the increasing demand on user’s traffic. In this seminar, we will discuss on recent development, future direction and challenge of Wi-Fi.
Dr. Edward Au is a Principal Engineer of Marvell Technology Group who works on product certification, test bed development and standardization of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth products. Prior to joining Marvell, he was Principal Engineer in Huawei Technologies and worked in developing foundational technologies for fixed wireless transmission system and Wi-Fi that have enabled a number of cutting-edge products.
Edward has actively participated in standardization organizations and industry forums. He currently holds/has held a few leadership positions in Wi-Fi Alliance, IEEE 802.11, and Optical Internetworking Forum. He is also recently elected as Chair of IEEE 802.11 Task Group AY, which aims at developing an amendment for next-generation 60GHz technologies.
Edward has a strong research record and published tens of papers and patents. He currently serves as an Editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and IEEE Transactions on Communications and he has served as a leading Guest Editor for IEEE Communications Magazine Feature on multiple occasions. He is a recipient of 2013 IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology Top Editor Award in recognition of his outstanding performance of timely handling paper reviews in both quantity and quality for the journal.
