Programme Requirements
Students register for the programme under the (a) Already subject-knowledge qualified (ASKQ) group; or the (b) Not yet subject-knowledge qualified (NYSKQ) group. All students are required to complete a total of 24 units for graduation. Courses to be offered include:
- PEDU 6111 The English Language Curriculum
- ENLT 6701 Phonetics and Phonology for English Language Teaching
- ENLT 6702 Morphology and Syntax for English Language Teaching
- ENLT 6703 Spoken and Written Discourse for English Language Teaching
- ENLT 6704 Psychological and Social Perspectives on Language
- ENLT 6705 Literature in English
- ENLT 6706 Special Topics in English Language
- ENLT 6801 Language Testing and Assessment
- ENLT 6802 Contemporary English Language Teaching Issues
- ENLT 6803 Reading and Writing – Teaching and Learning
- ENLT 6804 Listening and Speaking – Teaching and Learning
- ENLT 6805 Information and Communication Technology in English Language Teaching
- ENLT 6806 Professional Development in English Language Teaching
- ENLT 6900 Project in English Language and Teaching

1) Students are required to complete a total of 24 units for graduation.

* | Students who are admitted to ENLT 6900 must take 2 courses on research methods. |
2) Other Requirements
(a) | A student must achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in order to fulfil the graduation requirement. |
(b) | Students must fulfil the term assessment requirement of the Graduate School. A student who obtains a cumulative GPA below 2.0 in the preceding term will be put on academic probation. Class Schedule
There are two terms per academic year. Term 1 is from September to December, and Term 2 from January to April. Classes are usually offered on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings.
