Reaching Out Award 2017/18

In order to equip students with international exposure, the HKSAR Government has launched Reaching Out Awards (ROA) which is granted on an annual basis since 2012/13. The value of each award is HKD10,000.
Examples of outreaching activities
- Events / competitions (e.g. Conferences, forums, workshops, seminars, training camps, competitions, service-related activities, etc.)
- Internships or placements (e.g. credit-bearing/ non-credit bearing, clinical attachment, etc.)
- Field/ study trips (e.g. culture exploring trip, programme-related field trip, research project/ trip, etc.)
- Courses (e.g. foreign language immersion programmes, academic exchange programmes, etc.)
Eligibilities & Selection Criteria
- Full-time New Asia College undergraduate students studying in UGC-funded programmes of any discipline
- Participated / will participate in outreach activities outside Hong Kong during the academic year 2017/18 (1 September 2017 to 31 August 2018). No length restriction is set on the activities.
- Have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or equivalent, OR have good academic results during secondary education and in public examination
- Have NOT received the ROA before
Remarks:
i. Preference will be given to local students while non-local students may apply also
ii. Financial need of applicants may also be considered.
ii. Students can only be awarded ROA once throughout the entire study programme.
How to apply:
Please complete the Online Resume Form and submit the following documents to Dean of Students’ Office, 1/F, Cheng Ming Building, New Asia College on or before 31 January 2018 (Wednesday) 5:00 p.m. Late submission will NOT be considered.

Academic transcripts /Report
|
For Year 1 undergraduate students:
- Copies of public examination report(s) (e.g. HKDSE, IB, GCE, etc) / Academic transcript on previous qualifications (e.g. Higher Diploma, Associate Degree)
For Year 2 or above undergraduate students:
- Transcript on current programme up to the academic year 2016/17, including summer term (if any) (unofficial transcript downloaded and printed from CUSIS is acceptable)

Exchange transcripts (for students who have been to exchange)

Copies of academic transcripts with Explanation Notes of Grading System on an Exchange Programme (if any). Any downloaded transcripts are not acceptable.

Reflection report
|
Applicants who have already completed the outreach activity at the time of application:
- The report should be at least 2,000 words for English or 1,000 words for Chinese to share his/her outreach experience including 1 to 3 photos taken during the trip. The awardee must strictly follow the guidelines and the template (English /Chinese) provided by the Education Bureau (EDB) when writing the report
Applicants who haven’t finished your outreach activities:
- you are required to submit the report 1 month after the last day of your activities
*For the duration of activity, please fill in the official start date & end date only. Days outside the said period should not be counted.

Note for applicants who are not in Hong Kong during the application period:
For applicants who are currently not in Hong Kong and could not submit their application in person, you may submit your application with supporting documents via email before the deadline after finishing the online application. Please make sure you have signed by hand on the last page of the hard-copy version of the Resume Form and submit the scanned copy. Please provide valid reason and proof in the email and send all documents in PDF format to howardkwan@cuhk.edu.hk or edithtsang@cuhk.edu.hk before 31 Jan (Wed) 5:00 p.m.
