HKASMSS Student Conference on Student Conference on Sport Medicine, Rehabilitation and Exercise Science

The Centre co-organized the 2nd Student Conference on Sport Medicine, Rehabilitation and Exercise Science on November 1st, 2008.
It was our honour to have Mr Pang Chung, Hon. Secretary of Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Prof KM Chan, Director, CUHK-WHO Collaborating Centre for Sports Medicine and Health Promotion, who is also the Founding President of Hong Kong Association of Sports Medicine and Sports Science (HKASMSS), Dr Trisha Leahy, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Sports Institute, Prof John Lee, Dean of Education, CUHK, and Prof Youlian Hong, Chairman of Sports Science and Physical Education, CUHK, to officiate the opening ceremony.

Workshop "Questions arise from Olympics"

CUHK-WHO Collaborating Centre for Sports Medicine and Health Promotion and The Hong Kong Association of Sports Medicine and Sports Science had jointly conducted a workshop “Questions arise from Olympics” on 25th July 2008. There were over 30 people with various expertise attended the workshop.

FIMS-AFSM Team Physician Advanced Course on Olympic Equestrian Games

The 1-day team physician advanced course was co-organized by International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS) and Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM), with the support from the CUHK-WHO Collaborating Centre for Sports Medicine and Health Promotion and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sports Medicine and Health Sciences Centre.
The program was chaired by Prof Kai-ming Chan and Prof Walter Frontera, and it took the form of didactic lectures backed up by our strong international faculties from International Olympic Committee (IOC), International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS), Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM) and the a number of equestrian authorities.
With the theme on Olympic Equestrian Games, the program echoing the Beijing Olympics, has attracted a total of 104 registrants, who are mainly from specialities of emergency medicine, physiotherapy, nursing, orthopaedics & traumatology etc.

ACASA - Shoulder Arthroscopy Workshop

The workshop was co-organized with Asian Shoulder Association, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sports Medicine and Health Sciences Centre, with the support of Department of Orthopaedic Traumatology and Asian Association for Dynamic Osteosynthesis (AADO). The program was chaired by Prof Kai-ming Chan, Prof Mark Ferguson and Prof Kim Seung Ho, with the contribution and support from a number of local orthopaedic surgeons.

3rd International Scientific Symposium – "The Elite Young Athletes - Biopsychosocial Approaches to Sporting Excellence"

The 3rd International Scientific Symposium was successfully held at the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) on 15-16 March, with a participation of nearly 200 local and overseas sports practitioners, professionals and enthusiasts.
Organised by the HKSI, the Symposium featured keynote speakers from UK, USA, Australia, Mainland China and Hong Kong who shed lights on the theme - "The Elite Young Athletes - Biopsychosocial Approaches to Sporting Excellence". All of the participants found the information presented at the Symposium practical, up-to-date and unique.
