Dear Friends and Colleagues, It is a great pleasure and an honour to invite you to the 19th Chinese University of Hong Kong Surgical Symposium, to be held on 25-26th November 2016, at the Postgraduate Education Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin, New Territories, Hong Kong S.A.R. This Conference is jointly organized with the 6th West China-CUHK Surgical Forum and the 2nd CUHK Alumni Association of Surgeons Meeting. The Department of Surgery of The Chinese University of Hong Kong has always been at the forefront of surgical innovations and cutting edge technologies. The 19th Chinese University of Hong Kong Surgical Symposium will feature; state of the art keynote lectures by internationally renowned Visiting Professors; themed topics of Oncological surgery, Functional and Metabolic surgery, Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery; which will underpin the need for collaboration, cooperation and fraternity with local and international Surgeons. Furthermore, two pre-symposium workshops on advanced interventional surgical endoscopy and electronic magnetic navigational bronchoscopy would be held to enhance the learning experience of those interested in these sub-specialties. Hong Kong is an exceptional location for the Congress. It is renowned as one of the world’s most outstanding convention cities, its spectacular skyline, sparkling harbour and towering Victoria Peak providing a unique and spectacular setting. The symposium will be held in the Shatin, New Territories, which is a drive away from the idyllic Chinese University of Hong Kong campus, which is also next to the Shing Mun River where its is popular for watersports including the yearly dragon boat racing competition. We are confident that the symposium program will provide a wonderful forum for you to refresh your knowledge base and explore various surgical innovations. The Conference will strive to offer plenty of networking opportunities, providing you with the opportunity to meet and interact with the leading scientists and researchers, friends and colleagues as well as sponsors and exhibitors. Date 25-26 November 2016 (Friday-Saturday) Venue Shaw Auditorium, Postgraduate Education Centre (PEC) Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin, Hong Kong CME/CNE Accreditation Accreditation is given by the following Colleges on condition that the College fellows will sign on the Record of Attendance at the symposium venue to document their attendance. College/Programme CME/CNE The College of Surgeons of Hong Kong 25 Nov – 6 points 26 Nov – 4 points MCHK CME Programme 12 points The Nethersole School of Nursing (CNE) 5 points / day Official Language English is the official language of the Symposium. There will be no simultaneous translation. Invitation Letters Invitation letters for all international participants will be issued upon request. Certificate of Attendance A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to registered participants together with the program materials at the Registration Counter during the event. Insurance Participants are responsible for their individual travel, medical and personal insurance policy. ** The Organizer reserves the right to amend the program and information here.

The Weather
The weather in November is normally clear and sunny with temperature ranging from 21^oC to 25^oC and humidity of 76 percent. Generally, loose-fitting cotton clothing and short sleeves and light jackets are appropriate during this time. Weather information is obtainable from the Hong Kong Observatory.


Passport & Visa Requirement
Visitors to Hong Kong should hold a passport with at least six months' validity. Nationals of most countries are not required to obtain visas for periods varying from seven days to 180 days. Please note that a visa is required for some nationalities. The Organizer is NOT responsible for your individual visa arrangement. China Visa
Participants planning to travel to mainland China should make their own visa arrangement. China visa can be processed in Hong Kong and normally takes three working days and one passport-sized photo. Visas can be obtained through the Visa Office of People's Republic of China, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong, China Travel Service (HK) Ltd, or China International Travel Service HK Ltd.


Getting Around
Hong Kong is geographically compact and the public transport system (bus, ferry, or train) is efficient, relatively inexpensive and user friendly. Road signs in Hong Kong are bilingual in both English and Chinese.
