20th Anniversary of June 4:commemoration activities
This is a call for participation at two commemoration activities for the 20th anniversary of June 4. 20 years ago, students of CUHK joined hands with students from other HK universities and formed part of the support system for the 1989 pro-democracy movement. Teachers, staff and alumni alike from different departments also issued statements on newspaper in support of the movement. After the bloody massacre of June 4, the then Vice-Chancellor, Prof Charles K. Kao, together with others in the university management, including the Pro-VC, Heads of the four Colleges, the Faculty Deans, University Secretary and the Registrar, also issued a statement condemning the brutal crush down. Such was CUHK’s humanistic tradition and sense of mission. In that spirit, in search of justice and to commemorate those sacrificed, we would like to invite colleagues to join us in participating in the coming commemoration activities (both annual activities are organized by the “Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China”):
