Dr. Ting-Fung Chan is an Associate Professor at the School of Life Sciences, CUHK. He is also the Co-director of the Hong Kong Bioinformatics Centre and an investigator of the Partner State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology at the university. He studied in the United States in his early years and received his Bachelor degree in computer sciences from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He then pursued postgraduate training in genomics and obtained his PhD at the Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis. He received postdoctoral training in genomics at the University of California – San Francisco, supported by the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) from National Institute of Health, USA, and he co-developed a high-resolution optical mapping technology for various genome applications. His current research interests are on RNomics and bioinformatics, and their broader importance across various fields of study in biology and medicine. |
