GBS Students Bring Home the Championship from Hong Kong Joint University Case Challenge

A team of Global Business Studies (GBS) students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School brought home the championship from the first Hong Kong Joint University Case Challenge (JUCC) on 21 January, 2017.

JUCC is the first business case competition in Hong Kong co-organized by CUHK Case Competition Team, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) International Case Society and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Case Analysis Team. 4 teams from each of the universities were selected to take part in the competition. In this edition, participants were given 24 hours to crack a case on “e-Business Transformation in the Banking Industry: the Case of Citibank”.

2 teams from CUHK and 2 teams from HKUST successfully advanced into the final round, and one of the CUHK teams won the championship of JUCC. The winning team consists of four students from the GBS program: Elizabeth Chan (Year 1), Tiffany Chan (Year 1), Winnie Cheung (Year 2), and Melody Tam (Year 1). Elizabeth Chan is also awarded as the best presenter of the competition.

The adjudication panel of the final round included industry professionals and academics: Dr. Vichy Ho, Lecturer of School of Chinese, HKU; Mr. Jalil Jalaludin, Director, Payments & Receivables Product Management, Citi Asia Pacific; Prof. Emily Nason, Associate Dean & Director of UG Programs, School of Business and Management and Associate Professor of Business Education, HKUST; and Mr. Winston Yung, Partner at McKinsey & Company.

CUHK Case Competition Team is a student-led association sponsored by the CUHK Business School. Team members receive professional case training from industry experts, experienced alumni and senior students, and represent CUHK in various international case competitions.
