46 Year 1 and Year 2 GBS and IBCE students attended the Team Effectiveness Workshop at Qingyuan, China from Oct 31 to Nov 1. A series of team building exercises are designed to simulate the synergy and challenges of working in a team. Students are also challenged physically and mentally to step out of their comfort zone to instill their “can-do” spirit.
Listen to one of our students about his experience at the workshop:
Exhausted, but fulfilling. Tough, but rewarding. The Qingyuan Team Effectiveness Workshop has come to an end and the session which I enjoyed most was the group activity which we, as a team, had to make the tennis ball bounce on the drum. We tried hard but failed many times in the beginning. Fortunately we compromised different ideas through communication and clarification throughout the practices and finally came first among the three groups. It was definitely the most inspiring task for me as I truly recognized the importance of effective communication when tasks are unexpectedly difficult. This experience reminded me to be proactive and open to diverse ideas when solving problems as a team.
