Global Business Studies (GBS) students of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have won the championship in three local competitions in recent months.
Four Year 1 CUHK students won the championship title at the Joint University Business Management Challenge 2010, making CUHK the champion of the challenge for the third year in a row. The winning team, AH-Bviation, comprising three GBS Year 1 students (Bonnie Chiu, Victor Hui and Alan Yip) and one Professional Accountancy student (Herman Mok), reaped the ‘Best Presentation’ and ‘Most Creative’ awards. Rewards included a cash prize of HK$8,000 and internships for team members offered by HSBC, the title sponsor of the competition.

Carman Ho (GBS Year2 student) and Jason Leung (GBS Year 1 student) won the champion and the first runner-up positions in the ACCA Job Hunting Competition 2011 (Hong Kong final). They beat over 300 applicants who entered the competition in Hong Kong, advancing to be two of the twelve finalists after successfully completing the aptitude test and the semi-final competition. Carman, the champion, won a cash prize of HK$5,000 and Jason, the first runner-up, won a cash prize of HK$4,000. They will take part in the China Grand Final and compete for the National Grand championship in Guangzhou in June 2011.

The University Fantasy Fund Manager 2010 (UFFM) is an educational competition sponsored by J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) and jointly organized with nine universities in Hong Kong, providing students with an opportunity to gain realistic investment experience. UFFM 2010 attracted over 680 students to enter the Individual Challenge and 129 teams to sign up for the Group Challenge. In the Group Challenge, a GBS team, Intellivestor, comprising two Year-3 students (Henry Keung and Juliana Tam) and three Year 1 students (Wendy Chui, Jason Leung and Sam Luk), won the championship. Another GBS team, Momentum, comprising two Year-3 students (Steven Chan and Ken Liu) and two Year 1 students (James Lam and Peggy Tse) was named the first runner-up. Wendy Chui, one of the winners from Intellivestor, was offered a paid summer internship position at JPMAM for one month.
