Course description:

The Short-Term Intensive Program organized by UVic is designed for high beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. The objective of the program is to provide an English language program of classroom and social and cultural activities. This allows students to observe, participate in, and discuss Canadian culture using a curriculum based on cross-cultural communication. The emphasis of this program is to improve speaking and listening skills.

• Classes and Cultural activities

  Based on placement test results, students will be assigned to respective levels. Students attend 20 hours of English language classes in weekday mornings. In the afternoons, there will be a choice of workshops such as conversation, film studies, music, journal writing, and sports, and visits to local places of interest such as Discover BC Tour, Visit to the Royal BC Museum and Downtown Walking Tour.

  
• Optional excursions

  During weekends and free afternoons, students can join the optional excursions such as visit to Butchart Gardens, Vancouver city tour, Whale Watching, etc.
