About "Teaching and Learning"

Forms of learning
Teaching and learning come in many forms. These include classroom teaching, experiential learning, co-curricular learning, e-learning and others. All of these will provide our students with comprehensive learning experiences which will help them to acquire, apply and integrate educational theories and practice in school and classroom settings.

1. Classroom teaching
Learning activities include lectures, group discussions, project learning, presentations, simulations and games, experience sharing, etc.

2. Experiential learning
2.1 Field experience
Field experience forms an integral component of the curriculum of teacher education programmes. Different types of learning activities are designed to enable students to develop pedagogical skills and to gain an understanding of the socio-cultural context of the teaching profession. Both laboratory-based and field-based types of activities are available:

2.2 Overseas immersion experience
Students majoring in English language education and Chinese language education* have the opportunity to attend a language enhancement programme in a university outside Hong Kong. The overall aim of the programme is to enhance students' professional development, their competence in using English / Putonghua as a means of communication, and their cultural understanding of the English-speaking / Putonghua-speaking communities.

* applicable to undergraduate students

3. E-learning
E-learning platforms encourage interaction between teachers and students and among students. They not only help students to explore more learning experiences beyond the classroom, but also provide them with a fast and professional means of support.
