Be Entrepreneurial! Funding Scheme

The funding scheme supports short-term student projects that will realise the College’s core values of creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and social responsibility. All undergraduate students, regardless of discipline and year of study, are welcome to submit application all year round. The maximum funding amount is update to HK$20,000!

 

Project duration is flexible, but usually under a year. The range of project ideas is wonderfully broad, which can be

  • a campaign promoting glass/plastic recycling in Hong Kong,
  • an establishment of a store/bookstore to promote the old Hong Kong
  • an invention of gadgets to create useful daily hacks
  • a development of apps/ website/program for connecting with peoples

Global Learning Award Scheme

The Global Learning Award Scheme (GLAS) aims to encourage students to initiate or participate in non-local academic or experiential learning programmes with the main purpose of LEARNING. Applicants will be awarded the “Global Learning Award” and receive the award amount after completing all post-trip requirements on time.

Some examples are students’ self-initiating trips or joining overseas conferences, competitions, field trips, courses, internship/major-related placement, research, voluntary service, cultural tour. Programmes organized and subsidized by the College and Term-long Exchange Programmes are EXCLUDED.

All Wu Yee Sun College students (except Exchange students) are eligible for application. For final year students, the programme joined or planned must be finished by their corresponding graduation date. The College Student Exchange Committee will determine if the students can be awarded, and the award amount (if any). For more details, please visit the webpage of GLAS.

Service-Learning Project Funding Scheme

The College Service-Learning Project Funding Scheme, is part of the “Yan Chak Service-Learning Programme”  which aims to broaden the horizons of College students and foster their commitment to serve the local, regional and international communities, leading to sustainable personal growth and development. Service-Learning projects initiated by one or a group of College students or co-organized by College students and external organizations, are both welcome for application of the Funding Scheme. Sunny Passion Programme

Sunny Passion Programme invites all WYS students to submit the proposals that echo the following core values of the College: Creativity, Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility. Each enrolled team collaborate to enhance the practicability of project. It is not merely a competition, but also an exchange of ideas! Gold Award: HK$10,000 Silver Award: HK$6,000 Bronze Award: HK$4,000  

Creativity: Any wild thoughts are welcome!
Social Responsibility: Create positive social impact with your innovative ideas!
Collaboration: All enrolled teams, WYS and other CUHK students will render feedback to help you refine the ideas!

Express your ideas into a proposal with your ingenious creativity, and make our society a better one!   

Eligibility: All WYS students can apply individually or in group (A group MUST comprise of at least 50% WYS students and the other 50% may be students from other colleges.)

Applicants should submit (1) the application form together with (2) ONE A4 page Business Model Canvas by 5:00 pm, 25th Jan 2021 through one of the following channels –

  1. e-mail the softcopy of the documents to Miss Phoebe Wu (phoebewu@cuhk.edu.hk) and/or Miss Florence Tsui (florencetsui@cuhk.edu.hk); OR

Dorsett Young Entrepreneur Scholarship

Share your Idea and Rocket to Success!

With the generous support of Dorsett Hospitality International, a list of awardee for Dorsett Young Entrepreneur Scholarship (DYES) has been selected. Each recipient/group will be offered up to HK$80,000, which is subjected to the total number of applications, with 2-4 quota per year.

Dorsett Young Entrepreneur Scholarship aims at providing students, who are year 2 or above and preferably have exposure to Mainland China, an opportunity to demonstrate entrepreneurial talents with innovative ideas to set-up their own business, targeting Hong Kong and/or the Mainland China market. Complimentary office space, mentoring and coaching from Dorsett senior management may be provided if consider appropriate.

Rance Lee Award

Creativity and Sunny Living are two of the College’s core values. If you’re the health-conscious and green living supporter, grab this chance to promote your creative idea!

Rance Lee Award encourages the integration of creativity and Sunny living in the following 3 areas:

  • Rance Lee Award for creativity in promoting health and well-being
  • Rance Lee Award for creativity in promoting lifetime sports
  • Rance Lee Award for creativity in promoting green life

The objective of the award is:

  • To enhance the overall well-being of WYS students through development of their body, mind and spirit of our students
  • To encourage WYS students to think and act creatively in the above mentioned 3 areas - health, sports and green life
  • To generate innovative ideas to benefit oneself, the environment and the society

Mingle Fund

Mingle Fund aims at encouraging interaction among local, international and incoming exchange students of Wu Yee Sun College. The Fund mainly supports daily and social activities with the participation of Both local students And international / incoming exchange students (i.e. there should be at least one local student AND at least one international / incoming exchange student.)

Successful applicants will receive subsidy on reimbursement basis. For each successful application, each participant may receive, at most, HK$100 subsidy for the activity.
