To complement the academic training offered by the various faculties and departments, the College proudly carries the collegiate tradition – a hallmark of a CUHK undergraduate education – in providing students with comprehensive whole-person education and pastoral care, thereby developing them into learned and upright leaders and citizens in the society.
Through its diverse programmes of general education, college student life, as well as cultural and overseas exchanges, the College aims to broaden students’ horizons (scholarship), and encourage them to forge ahead (perseverance) in making contributions to the society leading a productive and fulfilling life.
College History and Milestones
- Established in 2007 by the generous support of the Wu Yee Sun Charitable Foundation Limited
- Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the College premises held on 9 June 2010
- Founding cohort of about 300 students admitted in September 2012
- College Campus Move-in in September 2013
- First Graduation Ceremony held in November 2016, proudly congratulating the College’s first batch of graduates
- Professor Rance. P.L. Lee retired in July 2017 after serving as Founding College Master for six years (2011-2017)
- Installation Ceremony of Professor Anthony T.C. Chan as College Master on 22 September 2017
- Tenth College Anniversary Celebration in November 2017

Emblem
With the generous support of Wu Yee Sun Charitable Foundation Limited, Wu Yee Sun College has been established since 2007. Dr. Wu Yee Sun, the founder of Wing Lung Bank, cultivated a keen interest in the art of penjing and won the accolade of the “Stage of Penjing”.
The college emblem is therefore characterized by a bonsai of pine tree. Pine tree endures cold in winter and here it is likened to the indomitable spirit of perseverance and the College’s mission to nurture the future generation. The emblem resembles a jade pendant with ornate carve hinting the humble and receptive attitude of a gentleman. The shape also resembles an ancient coin which reflects the profession of Dr. Wu.
The Sunny College
The publicity name of Wu Yee Sun College is “The Sunny College”: half word-play on Dr. Wu’s name and half of the College vision. May the College and its members radiate positive energy and be a passionate force that makes the world a better place. Anthem
The College Anthem is a beautiful presentation of the College Motto and Mission through the elegant melody and lyrics. It is jointly created by Prof. Victor Wai-Kwong CHAN, Professor of Department of Music and Dr. Sam Chak-lui CHAN, Lecturer of Department of Cultural and Religious Studies.
