Telemedicine in COVID-19

The emergence of COVID-19 pandemic has drastically modified medical practices which increased the usage of telemedicine among different medical fields. ‘Telemedicine Usage Among Urologists During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Cross-Sectional Study” was the first study to quantify the use, usability and pervading interest in telemedicine of urologists during the pandemic. A total of 620 urologists from 58 countries participated in the survey. The result showed that the usage of telemedicine among surveyed urologists during COVID-19 increased from 15.8% to 46.1%.  Despite the increased interest of urologists in telemedicine, the technology itself was one of the main obstacles preventing them from utilizing it. (J Med Internet Res. 2020 Nov 5;22(11):e21875. doi: 10.2196/21875.)
