Time to include young adults in Type 2 Diabetes Cardiovascular Outcomes trials
Cardiovascular outcome trials have brought remarkable clinical innovation in Type 2 Diabetes management. However, clinical management of a high-risk population, the young adults with young-onset Type 2 Diabetes, has been excluded from most of these trials. Since Type 2 diabetes has rising incidence rates towards younger ages, the article “Cardiovascular Outcomes Trials in Type 2 Diabetes: Time to Include Young Adults” calls for improvement by including more young adults with young-onset Type 2 Diabetes in these trials so as to better understand diabetes medication effectiveness in this population.
