The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Friends of the Art Museum, CUHK (the Friends) jointly organized the annual Award Presentation Ceremony and Exhibition on 2 December 2016 at the office of Willis Towers Watson. The ceremony was officiated by Mrs Sagiri Dayal, Chair of the Friends and Professor Harold Mok, Chairman of the Department of Fine Arts of CUHK. Professor Xu Xiaodong, Associate Director of the Art Museum of CUHK, Professor Zhou Jin, Associate Professor of the Department of Fine Arts of CUHK, Ms Janet Chow, Director of Institutional Advancement of CUHK, members of the Friends, and students of the Department of Fine Arts of CUHK also participated in this joyful event. 

In his welcoming speech, Professor Harold Mok expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Friends for their long-standing support to the Chinese University. “We are truly grateful for the support the Friends have rendered to us over the past 35 years. This enables the University to set up scholarships for talented young artists, and to support the development of our Art Museum,” said Professor Mok.

Over the years, the Friends have donated close to HK$10 million to the University in support of art education by setting up various scholarships to outstanding Fine Arts students. This year, 13 students have been selected to receive these distinguished awards. To express our gratitude to the Friends, Professor Zhou Jin presented his painting to Mrs Dayal with the award recipients at the Ceremony.

Concurrently held at the ceremony was an exhibition of artworks by students of the Department of Fine Arts of CUHK. A total of 44 artworks from 25 undergraduate and postgraduate students were displayed on the occasion.
