The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized the Presentation Ceremony of ‘Sin Wai Kin CUHK Golden Jubilee Scholarships in Arts, History and Philosophy’ on Tuesday, 24 July 2018. The ceremony was officiated by Dr Sin Wai-kin, David, Chairman of Sin Wai Kin Foundation and Myer Jewelry Manufacturer Limited, Mrs Sin, Mr Sin Nga-yan, Benedict, Director and General Manager of Myer Jewelry Manufacturer Limited, Professor Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of CUHK, and Professor Lai Pan-chiu, Acting Dean of Faculty of Arts of CUHK.
In his welcoming speech, Professor Fok Tai-fai expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr Sin and his family for their unfailing support towards the development of CUHK over the years. Mr Benedict Sin also encouraged all scholarship recipients to dedicate themselves in striving for academic excellence and to give back to the society after graduation.
Established in 2013 in the midst of the 50th anniversary of CUHK, the ‘Sin Wai Kin CUHK Golden Jubilee Scholarships in Arts, History and Philosophy’ awards students who excel in Arts, History and Philosophy, with the objective of fostering academic research. On behalf of all scholarship recipients, Mr Lee Him-nok, a year three student from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature delivered a vote of thanks. He thanked Dr Sin for his generosity in establishing the scholarship which recognized their effort in achieving academic excellence. All scholarship recipients presented thank you letters to Dr Sin, Mrs Sin and Mr Benedict Sin at the ceremony.
