The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized the ‘Tea Gathering with Recipients of Shanghai Fraternity Association Diligence Bursaries’ on Saturday, 9 June 2018.  Mr William Lee Tak-lun, President of Shanghai Fraternity Association Hong Kong Limited (SFA), Professor Fok Tai-Fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of CUHK, Professor Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President of CUHK, Professor Joseph Lau, Master of Lee Woo Sing College of CUHK, members of SFA and over forty recipients of Shanghai Fraternity Association Diligence Bursaries attended this joyful event.

In his welcoming address, Professor Fok Tai-fai expressed his deepest gratitude to SFA for their staunch support towards CUHK over the years.  He also encouraged all recipients to strive for their academic excellence.  ‘I am pleased to announce SFA will continue supporting the diligence bursaries in the coming academic year.  I hope all of the recipients will pursue your goals with diligence and faith, and give back to your alma mater and the society in the future,’ said Professor Fok.  Mr William Lee Tak-lun pledged to continue partnering with CUHK to support students with financial difficulties.  ‘This is always our responsibilities to nurture future young leaders for the betterment of our society.  With the diligence bursaries, I hope those students in need can improve their financial condition so that they can concentrate more on their studies,’ said Mr Lee.

With the generous donation of HK$1.3 million from SFA, the Shanghai Fraternity Association Diligence Bursaries was established last year for current full-time undergraduate local students in CUHKto award sixty-five students, with a quota of fifteen given to Lee Woo Sing College students.   On behalf of all recipients, Tsang Heung-kam gave a vote of thanks at the tea gathering.  He thanked SFA for establishing the bursaries which encouraged them to pursue their dreams and promised to commit themselves in serving the community in the future.
