The 14th CUHK Golf Day was successfully held on Wednesday, 23 January 2019 at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. The event continued to receive great support from CUHK alumni and friends, raising over $2.7 million for the long term development of the University and its Colleges, and enriching the “CUHK Golf Day Scholarship”.
Officiated at the Tee-off Ceremony were Professor Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of CUHK, Mrs Carol Tsang, Supreme Sponsor and representative of Billion Charity Fund, Dr Yeung Ming-biu, Supreme Sponsor and Chairman of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited and Mr Stewart Cheng, Diamond Sponsor of the event. In the Tee-off Ceremony, Professor Fok expressed his gratitude towards alumni and friends for their unfailing support towards the Golf Day, making it a remarkable annual event in CUHK.
Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, was thrilled to see a record high participation of alumni at the annual Golf Day with 65% golfers were alumni. This year marked the 55th anniversary of CUHK. He was thankful to see such a strong and supportive alumni fraternity at the Prize Presentation Ceremony.
This year, the prestigious “CU Cup” went to the United College for three consecutive years, and “Chung Chi College Team (2)” was the winner of the “Oriental Watch Open Cup - Best Net” prize. Alumni Mr Bibendum Leung and Ms Rebecca Liang won the “Billion Charity Fund Best Gross Prize (Men) and (Ladies)” respectively. Please click here for the complete results of the tournament.
CUHK Golf Day Scholarship
Established in 2011, the “CUHK Golf Day Scholarship” is an admission scholarship for first-year undergraduates who achieved academic excellence and participated actively in voluntary services and sports activities. Financial needs of students will also be taken into consideration during the selection process. A total of ten outstanding students were awarded the scholarship this year.
