CUHK organizes the third “Presentation Ceremony of CUHK Scholarship for Children of the Disciplined Services”

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized the third “Presentation Ceremony of CUHK Scholarship for Children of the Disciplined Services” on Thursday, 19 April 2018. Officiated at the ceremony were The Honourable Lee Ka-chiu, John, Secretary of Security of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Dr Leung Fung-yee, Anita, representative of Dr Wong Yu-hong, Philip, donor of the Scholarship, Mr Eric Ng, Vice-President (Administration) and University Secretary of CUHK and Professor Joseph Lau, Master of Lee Woo Sing College, CUHK. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of the representatives from various disciplined services and respective staff associations, as well as family members of the scholarship recipients. In the ceremony, Dr Anita Leung pledged to donate another HK$1 million to strengthen the support to the children of the disciplined services, especially to those who are in financial difficulties.
Mr Eric Ng expressed his deepest gratitude to Dr Philip Wong and Dr Anita Leung for their longstanding support towards the development of CUHK. He encouraged all scholarship recipients to take Dr Wong and Dr Leung as their role models in striving for excellence, to give back to their parents and alma mater, and to dedicate themselves in serving the society after graduation.
On behalf of all scholarship recipients, Kwan Hoi-lam, Helen, a Year 6 medical student from Shaw College gave a vote of thanks at the ceremony. She thanked Dr Wong and Dr Leung for establishing this meaningful scholarship. “The scholarship not only recognizes our parents’ contribution to society but also our effort in achieving academic excellence. This is my honour to be one of the scholarship recipients, and I promise to commit myself to contributing the community in the future,” said Helen.
All CUHK students, whose parents are current or retired members of the disciplined services, are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The awardees were chosen by the selection committee at Lee Woo Sing College. There are seven awardees this year.
