Applicants should (i) have a Master’s degree, preferably a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline; (ii) have native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English; the ability to speak Cantonese or Putonghua would also be recognized; (iii) possess at least ten years’ post-Master teaching experience in tertiary education (for Senior Lecturer rank) or at least four years’ post-Master teaching experience in tertiary education (for Lecturer rank); and (iv) have relevant teaching experience in Japanese culture, society or history courses. Candidates with relevant PhD degree with less teaching experience will also be considered.

Duties include (a) teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate Japanese cultural courses; (b) serving as an academic advisor and counsellor to students; and (c) other administrative duties.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years commencing August 2020, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.
