New Username for WiFi/VPN/ResNet Connection

To improve your use experience, we are now standardizing the username for wifi/ResNet/VPN connections by using

• name@cuhk.edu.hk (staff users or project account holders) and
• student-id@link.cuhk.edu.hk (student users)

Once implemented, you can use either your email address or Computing ID (in form of bxxxxxx) as the username in these network connections. The use of Computing ID in these services will end in late Sep 2021.

2FA Protection Extends to ClassNet

2FA protection will further extend to ClassNet VPN. When using Central Classroom PC to access the campus network, you will need to provide DUO 2FA after your password authentication.

Rollout Schedule (Tentative)

• 7 Apr (Tue): Support both Email Address and Computing ID as username in wifi (CUHK/CUHKa) and ResNet connections
• 20 Apr (Tue): Support both Email Address and Computing ID as username in VPN (Broadband and ClassNet) connections
• 17 May (Mon): 2FA enabled in ClassNet VPN
• 28 Sep (Tue): Use of Computing ID in wifi/VPN/ResNet connection ends
