Quick Guide for New Staff

1. Your staff ID card – CU Link Card
New appointees should submit a completed application form for CU Link (Staff Card) to CU Link Card Centre (Room 804, 8/F, Wu Ho Man Yuen (WMY) Building). The card will be ready for collection after the appointment is certified as effective by Department/UnitDon’t forget to retrieve your PIN through CU Link Default PIN Enquiry System after collecting your card.
2. Your Account – OnePass (CWEM) Account
Once collected your CU Link, get the Computing Account Information (CAI) Slip to gain access to various IT services (e.g. email, WiFi), MyCUHK and other University systems. To protect your account, please change your password and enable Two-factor Authentication (2FA) as soon as the CAI slip is obtained.
3. University Email, Cloud Storage & Microsoft 365
Access your mailbox, 5 TB free cloud storage and Microsoft Office Apps at CUHK Office 365. Don’t forget to

MyCUHK serves as a centralized portal for University’s news and events.  It also provides links to various services and systems such as

  • CUSIS, CUPIS, CUPIS and CUSAP 
  • Library 
  • Sports Facilities Booking 
  • Event Registration 
  • University Health Service 

… and more! 

5. On-campus WiFi, Off-campus WiFi and VPN
Connect to on-campus WiFiusing your OnePass account.  Register Off-campus WiFito get online at other institutions and various WiFi hotspots in Hong Kong! Use CUHK VPN / SSL VPN to access restricted websites and services (e.g. CUPISfrom outside campus.
6. Continue your work at home
Continue your work with full version of Microsoft Office installed at your home PC and Mac. Meet with colleagues or attend Webinar using ZoomandTeams. Protect your files by installing Kaspersky Anti-virus software. Visit our dedicated site for latest information about COVID-19 Central IT Resources. 
7. Online Teaching and Learning
Check out eLearning@CUHKfor a list of systems and tools (such as Blackboard, Panopto) to support your teaching. Conduct your online teaching and meeting usingZoom / Teams. RemoteApp Access is  also available to support SAS/SPSS/MATLAB teaching needs.
8. Campus-wide Software & Notebook Offers 
Additional virtualized / cloud computing tools, video-editing tools, assessment tool and statistical software are offered. For special discounts of notebooks, stay tuned with CUHK updates during mid-August to mid-October. 
9. Protect your Digital Data
Never disclose or share your password to anyone and be alert to phishing emails and fraud websites. Stay vigilant when working from home and attending online meeting. Observe latest IS services and policies from ITSC.
